The Unforgotten

Many boys attended HGS as members of the Class of 1965, but for one reason or another did not, in the end, graduate with us on that long ago June morning. Some died young. Should those who remain read this, we wish them to know that they have not been forgotten by us.

Any information about those on this list, or about any oversights, would be most welcome by the webmaster at John.Mordes@umassmed.edu.

In July, 2000, Peter wrote, "I thought I might presume to offer my entry in the "unforgotten" section. Obviously being unprepared to accept the possibility that I might belong in the "forgotten" section. I am in Atlanta with my wife Sandy and nine year old twin girls. I am a General Contractor, specializing in renovation of inner city buildings. Atlanta is the place to be for this work today. So many faces on the website bring back fond memories, but I particularly miss Mark Akin. Pete Gordon Home email:

In April, 2006, Peter wrote, "I am still a building contractor in Atlanta, no longer married, still the father of 15 year old twin girls. I remember my friends at Hopkins fondly, and if any of my teachers yet live, they should know that they had more success than my grades ever indicated. I have not let their efforts go to waste." He emailed us using gordonbuild@intergate.com.

Sandy moved to New Jersey after our sophomore year. He has, however, kept faithfully in touch with the school. On December 24, 1997 found us and wrote the following (which also appeared in the Spring, 1998 Views from the Hill):

"Well I am still at Lahey Clinic as Chair of the Department of Laboratory Medicine. I am also the medical operating officer for the group practice. I have been married 27 years and to the same woman. I have two boys, 22 and 24. One is in Oregon, an organic farmer/food broker big time. The other is in China, fluent in Mandarin working and may stay a while. I hope the holiday season is being kind to you... I still think Hopkins was my finest exposure to learning."

In February 2004, we heard again from Sandy: "Happy new year!!! I expect this note finds you well and busy . I actually went to the website.... I have an update. I have been the Chief Operating Officer at Lahey for the past 4 years and Vice Chair of the Board of Governors. I recently finished as Chair of the board of the American Medical Group Association. My son Ben is a landscape Architect, living in Naples Fl. He is married with a beautiful 2 year old daughter. My son David has been in China for the past 7 years and now lives in Hong Kong and works for Gartner. He is married to a wonderful woman form Shanghai. Merry and I live in Swampscott Ma and would be happy to have a visit from my former class mates."

Bill checked in on December 21, 1997 to update his information and to leave us an email address, but as of December 2006, we don't have one that works. The last address we have is P.O. Box 10712, Bainbridge, WA 98110-0712, 206-842-1748. The picture to the right was published in News and Views (Winter 2006/2007). It was taken at the 40th reunion of the class of '66, which Bill attended. He's in the front row, second from the right. Bill and his wife, Kathleen Gallagher, attended our 50th reunion.
